Life on the Edge Quest

What an exciting week October half term was! We were lucky enough to have a group of drama students from Gloucester University come to Indigos to work on a week long project with local children at Indigos. It was an environmental quest put on in conjunction with Life on the Edge.

A what now? What’s an environmental quest?

Well basically, it’s a play but rather than everyone just sitting around and watching they interact with it. The children taking part in the Quest spent three days making sets and props, they made a ten foot wide spider which was altogether too realistic for my liking shudders. They made costumes, learnt their lines and delivered it all beautifully to an excited crowd on the Friday which just happened to be Halloween.

It was called an environmental quest because the message in the performance was about protecting our wildlife and in particular, bees.

On the day of the performace Life on the Edge came along with seeds and pots for the children to plant and take home their own sweetpeas which the bees love! As well as that we had a raffle with some amazing prizes, pebbles which the children had painted up to buy as a keepsake. There were people in Hallloween costumes, a spooky wall where if you were brave enough to ring the bell a skeleton’s hand popped through with a gift. That was hilarious.

In addition to that we had the amazing Rock Choir come to sing as a finale to the performance. The audience were singing and dancing along and it was a lovely way to end the week.
